BREXIT!! You won’t often hear me talk about this and that’s because there are so many unknowns at present. I’d rather just leave a lot of it for our so called expert economists and politicians to sort things out for the good of the country.
Actually if I were a betting man all this activity may even come to nought. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the European Union self implodes, meaning the UK does not even need to extract itself from the EU. Countries like France and The Netherlands may be particularly vulnerable from far right groups also with a desire to leave the EU and other EU exit strategies in other countries may materialise.
So you have my view and what I suggest to organisations not to procrastinate or be overly concerned about the implications of the referendum vote.
In my opinion KEEP GOING!, JUST KEEP GOING. Be persistent, be focused, be determined.
Yes, by all means include possible outcomes from Brexit negotiations on your list of assumptions and risks and keep them in view.
But remember that any risk can be mitigated against: You can prevent it, reduce it, accept it, transfer it elsewhere and create contingency plans for the eventuality that the risk materialises.
Consider different options for moving forward, planning for more than one scenario.
BUT DON’T BE TOO NERVOUS,
DON’T LET THINGS HOLD YOU UP,
JUST KEEP THE EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT IN VIEW REGULARLY WHILST YOUR OWN PLANS EVOLVE,
AND REPLAN IF THINGS CHANGE
Of course if you prefer to slow things down to see what happens following the Brexit vote then that’s entirely up to you. It’s you that is accountable for how you progress your organisation. I just suggest you could be waiting a while to find out what all this means, and in the meantime: MIGHT YOUR COMPETITORS HAVE STREAKED AHEAD?
